Music from the Heart

Former front woman of critically acclaimed noughties band Jodavino; popular Gospel choir director; vocalist with new Celtic collective, Emerald on Ivory, Cork woman Aoibheann Carey-Philpott has been kept busy these past three years since her last solo release. Widely recognised for her unique voice and magnetic stage presence, the singer-songwriter returns with some powerful new music, as part of a self-described “raison d’etre” EP entitled Fragments of Joy. It has been an exciting few months for Aoibheann Carey-Philpott. With two successful releases under her belt as 2020 drew to a close, there has been a sense of excitement about what 2021 would bring. Her first release of 2021 was "Beginning of the End" back in February and now she returns with something a little bit different, a cover.

KinetiX is comprised of 3 brothers from Co. Offaly, Ireland - Arthur (drums), Ademar (keys/synths), and Theodore (vocals). They amalgamate a variety of elements from differing genres into their music, to create their unique style of pop music. Arthur, Theodore and Ademar Stones began learning traditional Irish music, on the banjo, fiddle and button accordion. They enjoyed success in the traditional Irish music scene, collectively winning 23 All-Ireland solo medals at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann competitions. In 2010, they played on the Late Late Toy Show, playing the accordion, banjo and bouzouki.

Since Emperor of Ice Cream announced their return from a twenty-five-year hiatus in May 2020 and with the release of their long-awaited debut album 'No Sound Ever Dies' last August, they have embarked on a chapter that very few, if any, expected would be written. The acclaimed debut long player entered the official Irish album charts upon release while also taking the No.1 spot in the indie album charts. Due to the wide acclaim for the album and the associated singles the band have not only appeased their long-established cult following but have garnered a new legion of supporters around the globe, which in turn has created a renewed demand for the band's back catalogue.

March 2020 saw a change across many parts of the world. We have all been affected and many of our great charities have suffered as a result of not being able to run the fundraising events of the past.  Laois based singer, Emer Dunne released the first single, Daisy from her astounding new album entitled, Hourglass has decided to donate all the profits from her single to a charity close to many of our own hearts, The Irish Cancer Society.   “I didn’t set out to record a song for charity. I was just working on this album and the way things went this past year the release was delayed. The date was then set for March 26^th and when I discovered this was also Daffodil Day, I decided that during these difficult times perhaps I can give something back. Everyone knows someone who has had to suffer at the evil hands of cancer. On a personal note, I have three aunties and an uncle who all suffered from Cancer and my mother is currently battling this illness.  I have watched her bravery over the past few months and observed first hand the fantastic work and support given by The Irish Cancer Society”.  

Ryan Fox is a folk rock singer-songwriter from Kent, UK. Ryan's gentle, smart, poetic songs have been played on FolkCast, Hermitage FM, Miskin Radio and Sheppey FM. His songs have reached the semi-finals of the UK Songwriting Contest. On a day to day basis Ryan can be found trying to remember what he did and where he was only yesterday, honing his Al Pacino impersonation in the shower, and trying to get his code to work. He has yet to make much progress on any of the above. Ryan grew up in Northampton and settled in Kent after leaving university. He is a qualified secondary school physics teacher and is currently studying at Imperial College London for a PhD in theoretical physics. Ryan has acted with the Canterbury Players drama group, appearing as TomJon in Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters. He appeared on the BBC TV show Pointless, but him and his wife were mugged of victory by a dodgy question on geography.

Strange Boy is a 1000-year-old poet channeling through the body of a young man from Limerick. With hard-hitting, thought-provoking lyrics, Strange Boy’s unique mastery of flow renders him one of the most important rappers of our time. Today Friday 16^th April, Strange Boy shares ‘Waiting’, the song that announces his debut album Holy/Unholy coming this summer. With genius and poetry, Strange Boy paints a living picture of the raw truth country’s youth - Waiting. Unfiltered and nuanced, it's a slow scene of the rapper's inner life and the lives of those in his community. Strange Boy combines hip-hop and Irish traditional music, the old and new cultural influences dominant in this country. The music was composed and produced by Enda Gallery in Kilfenora, Co. Clare during lockdown. A master of multitudes of genres, Enda also releases music under his own name, and is currently writing and producing debut albums for not only Strange Boy, but also Tolü Makay and Willzee.

With over 200,000 streams on Spotify, combined video views of over 2 million, music shared by Coldplay and supporting the legend Dodie......Belfast born, Owen Denvir at only 30 has asserted himself as one of the finest singer songwriters around. He has released two ouf of three EPs in the last few years. When complete, this trilogy will form his debut album. Each of the EPs has it own theme. As Denvir says, the EP trilogy idea is based on Sigmund Freud's theory that personality is a sum of 3 parts: the Id (acting on raw impulse), the Ego (being terrified of consequences) and the Superego (the balance between the two). The first EP ("Sticks") deals with loss and delusion and the impulsive decisions we make while in the spell of 'love'. The second ("Stones") being a more confident but brash take on love, and finally the last EP ("Bones") is when you have the balance between the two, which mostly leads to more healthy relationship. "My World" is a single from the last part of the trilogy, EP called Bones, to be released on May 7^th.

Ogham Scars is the new single from Dublin-based group Sun Collective, featuring contributions from harpist Gemma Doherty, part of duo Saint Sister. ‘Ogham Scars’ is the final of three singles shared in the run-up to, and in conjunction with, the groups’ appearance on award-winning and internationally acclaimed Irish music series, Other Voices, TONIGHT April  15^th on RTÉ 2 television, RTÉ Player worldwide & subsequently on Other Voices YouTube.

Little Storms are a 3 piece band from Teconnaught in Co Down, Northern Ireland. Band members are Tim (Drums and Percussion), Eugene (Bass/Vocals) and Paul (vocals/guitar/keys). They have been playing music for quite a while, mostly around the cover/wedding band circuit in Belfast. With lockdown wiping out the live scene they started to concentrate on writing and recording their own material over the last 18 months, using a home studio.
