Turn The Page - Wasting Time (single)
Formed in 2019 Turn The Page are an exciting acoustic based band from Co.Antrim, Northern Ireland, fronted by singer/songwriter Daryl Ball. Daryl previously had several popular album releases and performed around the world including CBGBs in New York, Glastonbury Music Festival and closer to home in the Ulster Hall in Belfast. Now together with Davy McKendry and Stephen McClelland, Turn The Page deliver mix of well-crafted originals with crowd-pleasing covers. Wasting Time is their latest single.
The single combines traditional Irish music (that's undeniable when you hear the fiddle) with the rock sound and the result is pretty unique and catchy. Lyrically, the song would probably resonate with those who try to look on their lives in retrospect from to time. Most of us question our actions looking back and wondering whether it made sense or whether it would have been better to do it diferently or not do it at all.
Those "rainy evenings at home" mentioned in the song suggest a time to think, perhaps with the desire of changing the unchangeable. Are we taking the time for granted because we think we've got plenty? Are you doing what you really want or just wasting time with something you're supposed to? All kinds of thoughts creeep into your head as you listen.
Melissa Hayes' fiddle maintains that trad element throughout the song and keeps the rhytm steadily flowing.
