The Two Five Ones - Slave to the Moon (single)
The Two Five Ones are a jazz duo based in Cavan/Monaghan, Ireland and formed in 2016. Consisting of Dara MacGabhann (Vocals) and Andy Hogg (finger style guitar & vocals); both of whom have enjoyed successful musical careers prior to their partnership. The Two Five One’s shows are packed with jazz and blues classics from the 1920s through to the 1960s and beyond, and feature some original compositions of the same genre. The Two Five Ones released their debut album Sentimental Journey in 2018, highlighting the simplicity of purely vocals and guitar.
Their latest single Slave to the Moon presents a tragic love story relaying a tale of loss and despair, entices the listener to read between the lines and melt into this haunting melody. Evocative vocals of Dara MacGabhann draw the listeners deep into themselves and make the hidden feelings and emotions come to the resurface. Emotionally charged lyrica and the haunting arrangement pull the heart strings and make you realize that true love will always be there if you had the fortune to encounter it. It will never go away. Amd there will never be another like that.
For some, this is the perfect thing to listen to on a rainy day while it may only deepen the hearbreak of others.
"Short is the day, dark is the night
Long is the evening without you by my side
I hear that howl from over the hill
My heart is breaking but I love you still"
