Silvernite - So It Began (EP)
Besides the music, a core part of Silvernite is THE STORY. The story of humankind fleeing their home Earth after losing a war agains alien invaders, and the heroes, fighting to take back our home. Their debut release offers a taste of it, and the future will hold a lot more. The music and everything about Silvernite will revolve around the concept of the story.
Every track on this collection is unique yet each forms part of the overall concept, therefore can't be left behind. The opening instrumental Colt Has Fallen...Run..Run sets the mood for the whole release. Straight away you feel like in a sci-fi movie, invaded by aliens, hiding wherever you can, hoping you'll make it out of this alive.
Sweet Mary is a good old rock from the 80s. Powerful lyrics tell the story of a girl named Mary who has given up hope and wants to take her own life and the lyrics are comforting words of somebody trying to save her. Tanja Härkönen's vocal is both consoling, pleading and demanding the change of mind. Once your life is over you'll never get it back, it can't be undone.
Cry For Love has that classic 80's sound and you imagine a song like that as a soundtrack to a movie from that era. It talks about a man longing for the joy and love of his youth, wanting to get it all back. Overall, the most optimistic track on the EP. Simple but catchy chorus will have you sing along in no time.
Lost In Your Eyes is a beautiful. evocative, synth-based instrumental that lets your imagination run wild and perhaps shed a few tears. Or dance along? There is no right or wrong, just let your music enter your soul and see what it does.
We Will be Back is a fitting closing number, bringing back the story of humankind fleeing their destroyed home planet. We don't want to bring the current situation up much in this review but don't you get sort of an apocalyptic feeling as you listen to this track? new beginning perhaps?
