Seán McComish is a pop artist and songwriter from Fethard-On-Sea, Wexford, Ireland. Inspired as a child by hearing ‘Music and Me’ by Michael Jackson, he decided to pursue a life in music. McComish began his career with an impressive start in the Irish live music scene – some of his very first performances in 2015 were at Whelan’s and the prestigious Ruby Sessions, which he followed with the acclaimed EP, ‘The First Step’. It earned him the chance to perform with the likes of Wild Youth, Calum Scott, Gavin James, The Academic, Aslan and Jake Carter, before embarking in 2017 on tours across Austria and Ireland.
He has gone on to receive widespread airplay, including coverage from Beat 102-103, and RTÉ 2FM. The pandemic saw McComish turn limitation into opportunity. He built a home studio, and discovered a latent love for music production and mixing, proving his capabilities with breakout 2021 single, ‘Stay Away From Me’. Seán McComish has made himself the definitive all-rounder pop artist, and one to keep a close eye on in 2022.
His new single, Fade Away, is as pop as it gets with the club fitting arrangement and McComish's vocal singing about all shades of love as it's custom in the genre. The vocal is mature and fits the chosen style. However, the track catches the listener's attention more on the melodic than on the lyrical side. Perhaps intentionally, the main line "you fade away with my love" is the only thing that gets into your ears, whereas the melody might make your body move and shake a little.
"You gave me hope when I didn't need it
Then you stole it away
You left my edges frayed
And now you don't reply when I need ya"
