Ruby Moss is 14 years old, originally from Trim County Meath now living in Cabra Dublin. Ruby's musical career began in St Patrick's Cathedral Choir School under the direction of the Master of Music there. She studied music theory, piano and flute during her time in St Patrick's. These studies have continued in addition to taking up guitar, button accordion and organ after Ruby was awarded a prestigious organ scholarship in Dundalk Grammar School. Ruby plays flute with the school orchestra and is performing in the National Concert Hall in February with them. Ruby was one of ten people selected in Ireland to participate in the Creative Lab programme with the National Concert Hall and she is composing music to be performed at the New Music Festival in Dublin in April. 2021 was a fantastic year for Ruby - she achieved five #1 singles in the iTunes singer songwriter chart. She has amassed over 1000 YouTube subscribers and tens of thousands of streams of her songs. Her music has been widely played on radio stations across Ireland and the world. Ruby has also been selected by An Taisce as a Climate Ambassador for 2022.
Her new single "If You Are", written as a tribute to her great grandmother, is a delicate piano ballad. Moss' vocal, heavy with emotions, sounds quite haunting throughout the song. The high notes sparkle the track and brighten it up a little. Lines like "wherever you are, I hope that you are happy" are surprisingly grown-up for such a young girl. She puts all her feelings into the track and the result is evocative, full of love, sadness and hope. The piano suits Moss'style the best and we think she should stick to it.
