Music from the Heart

One Morning in August - A Wasted Love (single)

Following on from last year's acclaimed singles Get it Right and Lovers by Surprise, which received a massive response on the airwaves both in Ireland and internationally, One Morning in August return with their highly anticipated single, A Wasted Love.

The Southeast of Ireland based outfit once again teamed up with producer David Ayers for their latest release, their third release since joining forces with Cork independent label FIFA Records. 'A Wasted Love' is a song that deals with the extreme emotional intensity of unrequited love in a relationship, when the beholder is unable to see it, but it is clear to those around them. Theirs is a sound that channels heart felt visceral hooks with beautiful, layered melodies and harmonies so there is little wonder why their David Ayers produced their eponymous debut album was received with such widespread critical acclaim upon release. The new single will be initially released on Bandcamp and Minm

Starting with some ambient guitars, A Wasted Love seemingly sets the mood for Valentine's Day. The lyrics, however, aren't romantic by any means, it's rather a harsh realization that sometimes, we, appropriately to the song title, waste our love on someone who doesn't deserve it. But once we're blinded by love, we don't see it or aren't willing to see it. The song ends on an optimistic note, an advice to us all, that we need to get burnt in order to find "the one"

The band are currently in the process of recording their second album again with David Ayers at the controls which will be released on FIFA Records later in 2022. Their also made their Dublin debut recently, supporting Cat Dowling.
