Michael Lane - Take It Slow
If there is a modern folk-pop artist who has seen the harsh realities in life, it is Michael Lane himself. As a US soldier in his twenties, sent to Iraq and Afghanistan, Michael was forced to live at cruelty . Successes such as two top 50 songs in the German charts, four albums, international tours and the single "Liberty" as the official song of the 2015/2016 Four Hills Tournament, Europe’s biggest international ski jump event, have made Michael Lane, a German-American, known to the public. In addition to his work as a musician, Michael Lane is currently also active as a songwriter for production music and as a music producer in his remote "Studio Waldblick“.
Containing a few previously released singles, Lane's latest album Take It Slow is a collection of heartfelt honest songs, delivered by his delicate yet passionate vocal, putting the listener at ease and calming the crazy world down. At least for the duration of the collection. In the the current times full of anxiety, uncertainty, tears and worry, Lane's comforting vocal is like a beacon of light and optimism chasing the bad away and restoring the peace of mind, even if for a while.
Bringing a message of hope and optimism was Lane's intention for this album from the get go and he managed to accomplish that very well. Each track has a delightful acoustic guitar melody that guides us throughout. The album flows smoothly yet given the similarity of the tracks, it becomes difficult to tell them apart from one another. Is that a problem? Not so much for an album that's perceived as a whole and presents that kind of record you put on when you wanna get as far from your current situation as possible.
Some of the songs are mellow and others are more upbeat but everything is perfectly balanced. Michael Lane shows he's an accomplished artist who found his sound and know what can only he bring into the music world.
