Louis McTeggart - Beat of the Drum (single)
Louis McTeggart, a singer/songwriter based in Derry, Northern Ireland , is releasing a brand-new single ''Beat of the Drum''. Louis has been working in the music industry for over 20 years. As a musician and covers artist he has travelled the world performing on cruise ships and ferries and as a songwriter he has had his music featured on TV, film and radio and played in some fantastic venues throughout Britain and Ireland.
Louis' last single, “I Used to Dance” brought him some amazing success as the song was played on mainstream and community radio throughout Ireland and on independent stations around the globe. He also appeared on several stations to promote it and was featured in several newspapers including The Belfast Telegraph and the Derry Journal. Beat of the Drum is the second single to be released from Louis' upcoming album.
Louis originally came up with the idea for his new single "Beat of the Drum" over 10 years ago after having a dream about a beautiful girl singing a song with beat of the drum in the title. Louis first performed the song with his uni band, Grace and Mercy and it was at one of their shows where producer Peter Doherty (Karma 45) heard it and immediately wanted to record it. Due to different circumstances Peter and Louis did not get round to doing so until years later but the wait was worth it! Peter took influence from Noel Gallagher's High-Flying Birds, 90's dance and even spaghetti westerns to create a head bopping earworm. Lyrically the song deals with issues everyone can relate to such as loneliness and isolation.
Melancholic piano intro instantly brings in the emotions and McTeggart's evocative vocal only intensifies the heaviness of feelings. But looks can be deceiving. The track turns into an upbeat disco number with the 80s vibe soon after that. No trace of sadness whatsoever. You can hear he gives the music his all. This is his passion, the driving force of his life. And appropriately to the song title, his heart beats for the music and the ability to express himself.
