Kildare native Lisa Gorry is no stranger to Irish music scene, where her combination of relatable lyrics and tender vocal tones have been honed to craft an intimate performance style. Last year she performed to the packed audience at Ruby sessions, her lyrics echo the sentiment of young Joni Mitchell with the vocal prowess of Dusty Springfield and emotive power of Janis Joplin. "Like most musicians, Gorry was left to explore her music in different ways over lockdown, and that saw her arranging “Fleeting” initially on a tiny tablet in an attempt to upskill. The result, having been fine-tuned by Kevin Brennan of Wavefarm Productions, offers a rhythmic and charismatic contribution to the post-lockdown wave of new music.
“Fleeting” examines the energy that we seek in other people, and what it feels like when this energy is not returned. The track starts with gentle guitar and evocative vocals, a trademark for Gorry. Passionate expression contrasts with the darkness of the lyrics but the balance is just right. Deeply introspective track that all of us can relate to.
Lisa Gorry is going to release her first major release, a debut EP called Is It Me? on October 21st
