Clelia Felix - Stories (EP)
Clelia Felix is a French composer/songwriter. She started learning classical piano at the age of 7. After releasing two albums ("Road Movie" and "Somewhere Anywhere"), her music gets noticed and is played by radio DJs around the world. Since then, her music appears on prestigious and luxury projects: musicin Buddha Bar in Dubai, Cafe del Mar, Porsche Design (this project won the World Luxury Award in 2012 in Monte Carlo), Fashion Tv...
The songs on her latest EP "Stories" are about the right to be different, intolerance, violence against women...strong subjects that are approached like stories (hence the EP title) and carried by melancholic melodies tinged with "electro-pop" sounds.
The slow hypnotic monotone rhytm of You Call Me a Fool would make you fall asleep if the track went on for a little bit longer.
Croire au Bonheur is a dreamy track that lets Felix's crystal clear vocal shine and the listener gets lost in the atmospheric vibes. Good for a late night listen when things calm down and there's time to relax.
Just with Flowers changes the mood agaiin, the piano gives the song a romantic feel. You can hear the southern accent in her English in this case, adding a little exotic vibe.
Elle pardonne shows the beauty of singing in your mother tongue. But also the universality of music as a language where you don't need to know the words. The only thing you need to know is to open your ears and let the emotions provoked by the sounds do their thing.
