Music from the Heart

A piece of Ireland in Prague: Travis O'Neill

It's Saturday evening so why should you stay at home? Let's go out, have a wonderful view of Prague and a great music. And we don't mind the cold outside when the sun goes down. Let's have something hot to drink and everything will be allright. I don't know how many of you know Travis O'Neill and His Cardinal Sins. Travis is an Irishman from Sligo who's based in Prague now but his music doesn't have anything to do with an Irish music as we know it. It's something between singer/songwriter and country music.

The gig started with more temperament songs and a singer and guitarist Guy Bennett sang harmonies on most of them. An Englishman celebrating one year in Prague these days. A performer you'd like to hear a lot more from. He spent many years playing blues and it can be seen. The first tones of My woman reminded a lot of a song The Girl from North Country by Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. And the truth is that Travis'music is influenced by these artists. He and Guy introduced also a few new songs like Grapes of Luvah or Beside You and the women in the audience were surely touched by the lyrics. No matter if the songs are slow or more energetic, when you close your eyes you feel like being in Dublin and walking on Grafton street.

The night ended on a very classic note, Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues with Travis and Guy on vocals so the audience had a chance to hear the Englishman sing. You can fully enjoy his talent at his own gigs. You won't regret going.
